Hi all. I am back. Advancing with the turret. Had a big problem understanding how to make the smoke mortars covers and combine them with the turret. Took me at least three attempts. Had to be very careful with many edge gluing
Also, I made three ammo boxes for NSVT 12.7 mm turret-mounted machine gun.
So, I need to finish the side bustle rack, the NSVT machine gun and the main KBA-3 to mark the turret done.

Hello all

A small update. I finished a turret bustle rack. Had to be very careful, these are 1mm wide double layer pieces of paper. A sharp knife with comfortable handle is a real must.

I have to add, it took me a lot of time to connect all the parts, because of the size of the parts.

I also mounted two ammo boxes on the rear of the turret.

Slowly but steadily.....

Hello all
The turret is done. Finished the NSVT 12.7mm machine gun with mount and the main gun. It is quite a challenge to roll such long and such small diameter tubes. Remade at least three times ..
Then, the turret swivel ring which gets inserted into hull. Had to decrease the ring's height, because it was getting bumped in the hull reinforcement. Beside that, no issue.

Nice work on this tank version. I only built a T-34 and partial of an IS-3 tank and appreciate their complexity.

A side note per my personal observation of recent historical battles: The age of the tank is over. All I see is videos of tanks blow up especially with their turrets flying thru the air when hit.

Even massive columns of tanks are prime targets for man portable missiles and drones.

Especially notice the effective use of small drones hovering and dropping very small bombs from above while the tank crews are resting.

Tanks like the old chariots played their roles long enough and are just a waste of resources.

I predict small unmanned vehicles purpose built with guns , directed energy weapons or small missiles instead of manned tanks.

Isaac

Thank Isaac. This model is quite simple, compared to 1:25 monsters.

Regarding your observation, well, art of war steps forward, maybe you are right, maybe not. Time will show

Isaac, tanks will be relevant and around for a long while yet. You will note that Trophy syle active protection systems have been absent from the recent combat we are all aware of.

Hello all.
After a break, I continued, pretty slowly, with wheels.
The designer provided two options for wheels and tracks: one very simple, box-like with printed wheels and tracks, the other version with separate driving sprockets, bogies, front tensioner wheels and tracks made from strips with side walls.
.
The first option was too simple for me.
Second option was selected.
Each bogie is made from 8 parts, each driving sprocket is made from 5 parts and each front tensioner wheel is made from 4 parts.

Nothing too complicated, just need to be careful.

So, after a number of weekends, I finished with all the wheels.
Next step is to build the arms that will attach the bogies to the hull.
