Paper Model, Willys Jeep, Modelik, 1:25
Hi All,
Selected this model as my next project, Modelik Willys Jeep 1/25, which I got from a friend of mine a couple of months ago. Cannot be sure how long it would take but I’m expecting shorter than my previous 2-yr project, Ty-2. Let’s see how it goes. Last edited by Joon Kwon; 04-06-2023 at 02:24 AM. |

Hi Mike, Don, Billmcc, Erik and RifleMan,
Thanks a lot for your comments and encouragements ! Tire prototyping done. Tried to follow the original method suggested by the plan, but the result was not good. So, I tried different method, sandwich method. Picture below shows the initial attempt and the 2nd trial (at the top) Starting from the structural design, prepared paper rings and assembled. Unfortunately, lost the pictures of assembly steps, assembly, grinding, adding tire tread, etc. will show you how I do later. Brush painting for tires to create rough paint surface I decided to use pastel powder based weathering as I did for my KrAZ 255B long time ago. Rough paint surface allows good powder application. Tire prototyping completed. Structure, assembly steps, painting/weathering method confirmed. I’m considering implanting magnets (just in case) |

Your sandwich method is hard to beat. These look like the tires you made for your truck.

This is going to be another masterpiece.
Have tried both the sandwich and the coiling method for tyres and am still on the fence over what works better.
