Just adding that 1:35 is the Tamiya scale. Before they dominated the market, most were 1/48 or 1/32 for the larger scale ones. My understanding is Tamiya came up with the scale so the models would fit with existing tooling they had for the battery boxes and motors since most (if not all) of their earlier armor models were motorized.

The good thing is, it is possible to fudge the scales a bit to make both systems work for your diorama. So, unless someone is able to look at the components with a magnifying glass and a ruler, no one will be able to tel the difference.
