3ds max to paper models??

does any1 know how to unwrap max models to pieces 4 paper models?? or is there some other method??

I think pepakura can read that kind of files to make the flat patern Pepakura Designer

Unfortunately, Pep won't open the .max files that 3ds Max saves in. But, you can export to the 3DS and obj formats that Pep does read.

Bones, do you have a .max file extension on the model you have? If you do send me a PM with your email. I can convert it for you into most any file type that Pep will open.

i'm just learning max myself, but one of the texturing utilites has a capability to unwrap/unfold your design for exporting (as an image file), if i can figure it out i'll shoot you a message.

You have to make the model 'work' using MAX and export to .3ds.

The good thing is that you can finalize your UVW Textures in Max and the .3DS file will retain that information. I have the old Pepakura and it allows you to change the textures.

PS.....start walking tho` as, do some simple geo shapes to get OK with basiucs first.have some FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
