Douglas C54 Skymaster
Ahoy
Had been here for a while to busy finishing up already started builds that got to be done before i leave this worls now is the time to get them done. I was digging around in the boson locker I forgot that I even had this old model i built. I have so many i cant keep trck on what i have I had to go back in time to figure out when i first built this looking at it My memory started to click in. This is a scratch built model that i built from a 1962 model airplane News magazine I use to subscribed to, Every issue had model plans that made very good subjests to build from. This model suppose to be a U control job useing four McCoy .19 engines with a wing span of 69 inch,s the plans in the book were scaled down as a sample plan of the full sized version. the scale to this is unknown all i know that it has a 12 inch wingspan small for me this is the smallest planbe i have. I traced the plans onto wood and carstock and built the plane aboard ship on my spare time when i wasn,t standing any watch,s I gave up and sent it home for a project to finish up on when I got out of the navy I completed this build 18 years ago, This is a C54 Skymaster that was used on the Berlin airlift in 1949 the Skymaster was a successor to the Dakota or skytrain. they were the first 4 engined air transport used and by the end of the berlin stockade the C124 globemaster was used and suppose to be the successor to the Skymaster, Here are the pictures of the Skymaster Tommorow I will attach a few more better pictures in the daylight. Daylight pictures are a lot better then the ones I do inside. with Christmas comeing up my Firstmate is getting me a better camera with this in mind there will be better and clearer pictures no more Mr. Fuzzy,

Ahoy!
Stunning model! I really love card airplanes with a silver finishing! There are at least 2 C54 Skymasters remembering those times. One is kept in Berlin Tempelhoff and another in North Weald close to London. If anybody would like to make such a model I can help with some photos! Best regards! Cybermac |

Great looking Aircraft in real life, and you my dear Grand dad boats have captured her lines beautifully. Like Cybermac says - the SILVER finish always seems something special. Stunning as always Skipper.
