I never tried the paper pulp method. How is it done? I suppose mix the pulp with glue and pour into the mold? I was actually thinking of using resin material to mold the bombs and then I could make as many as needed and more. Thanks Isaac |

I used a pulp method that worked quite well - i used the paper dust from the bottom of the paper shredder mixed with pva to a smooth pulp - it sands pretty well, and is light weight too. Makes GREAT filler
PS... If you have any colour powders, add the colour you require to the mix - All bombs are LIGHT and coloured all the way through. |

It's your usual white glue {can be mixed with a little water if required} Super smooth finish with the mix of paper dust I attached a picture of the Seaview Submarine {Gary Pilsworth design} The front of this had a lot of paper strips which left gaps and uneven surface - the method i used to overcome that problem was with the mix i mentioned. Hope that helps.

Just got back from an overseas trip.
I note with some concern that my "Man Cave" is in need of tiding up. I can't find things here. Regarding the A-7, I need to finish the small details that are left and start on the fuel drop tanks. Isaac |

Isaac,
Glad to hear you are back. Hope you will be impressed with what you find in your mailbox tomorrow. The Corsair II is looking great. Looking forward to the conclusion of the build. Ron |

Wing pylons issues
Started work on the external fuel tanks and noted that the inner pylons on the kit are way to close to the fuselage.
The art work is correct though. I looked at another build of this kit on the Polish site and the fuel tanks are practically touching the body. Also, there is no room for the A-9 missile if built to scale ( the kit AIM 9 Sidewinder missile is totally off ). So I have to decide how to correct it ( surgery ) without damage to the wing ( I used dowels for strength in the pylons ). Also, I toyed with the laser guided bomb on the middle pylon. The aircraft spec said it can drop them, but I did not see a photo of one carried on the A-7D operationally. But regardless, my dry fit looks good. I will also build the conventional 500 lbs bombs out of plastic or resin to see what it may look like. The aircraft is mostly done though. Cheers Isaac |

I am back
I decided to bring the A-7D model to our club's February meeting to gage reaction. One guy actualy thought it was the Trumpeter 1/32 scale model until he got closer.
I am also going to display it along with others next Saturday at the Columbus Ohio IPMS contest. Any of you near by, please come up and display your paper models as well. They are very accomodating. So far I know there will be 3 of us paper modelers there. For now, the A-7 has the LGB under the wing, but I am looking into conventional ordanance. Here are some of today's pics Cheers Isaac Last edited by Isaac; 02-13-2011 at 07:28 PM. |
