Papermate,

Had to look at the photos again. Especially the one with the ruler.
My Catalina by Kancho reduced down to 1/200 is 4" in length...give or take.
So it looks like you beat me in making one even smaller, a whole inch
and a half shorter at 1/500.

Thanks, Jeff, but the 1/500 one is much simpler to make than Kancho's. He has evidently put in a lot of effort in design that one, frame and skin, and the details there are pretty hard to build when reduced to 1/200.

No.63 PBY Catalina by Micro Models in 1/200

No. 63, PBY Catalina by MicroModels is up. I have chosen this one over others like Kancho, LadNDad and GPM's because of the ease of building it. Here it is, the Catalina like 50-60 years ago when it was presented as a paper model in 1/200. 99% of it sticks to the original and the only modification is the two cones added to the props. Though no formers are used, I'm amazed by the smoothness and accurate fit of the build. Wonder how they did it in designing paper planes in the 50-60's without computers?

Hi all,

It came out very well Papermate. I was wondering why the bottom rear hull was a different color? Did they forget to color it light blue or was it intentional by Micromodels. It can be easily corrected along with photoshop or similar programs now days.
