No.44 Douglas 1186C
Since POTW 50 is also a navy plane, I'm giving it a try at a smaller scale of 1/200. Not only that, I'm building it in silver paper. It also reminds me of the pleasure in building the Short Mayo Composite by Gary Pilsworth.
To prevent fingerprints from getting on the surface of the model during the construction stage, I used flimsy kitchen wraps to cover the plans first. It turns out very good, the wrap just sticks to the surface and stays there even if I cut it with blades or scissors. Some modifications were made to join the engine tower to the fuselage. I used two paper rolls and wires instead of the two rectangular formers. The wires were pierced into the fuselage and glued. The exposed wires on top will go into the belly of the Stiletto to replace part A13 of Tekzo's plan. More to come as I move on, maybe at snail speed. Papermate |

Hi Chris, thanks for enlightening me what the wrap should call. Saran wrap, that's something I've learned. Is saran a brand name or the stuff itself?

Progress report of the Douglas 1186c. The x-plane, Stileto, is being assembled with some difficulty because of its tiny size and structure. Anyway, it is done finally and test fit on the back of Douglas.

Here's the completed model. A picture is better than a thousand words and there are 15 of them.

That Douglas 1186c was from Tekzo right? I really enjoyed this thread so far... So it's alright to build this using bond paper? ...thanks

Thanks, nikOlai, you can use any paper you like, it's your call. I used silver paper on Douglas 1186c just because I thought that it would look good - that reflective surface. It really did.

No.45 Supermaine Walrus
After reading DT's thread of the Supermarine Walrus, I thought to myself why not making this sea plane my No. 45 in this series. And, here it is, given a coat of clear varnish, rigged with UHU glue and props set to spin. The model is a freeby from http://fanatyk-kartonu.nd.e-wro,pl desgined by Dmitri Hotkin.
