On this one I used music wire. I'm not sure of the diameter-I'm guessing .015 (inches). I have a stash of wire scraps left over from other projects and use what looks right to my eye. Where I need something thinner than that I generally use elastic thread.

Looks really nice to me, specially the transparent canopy which you don't seem to like so much... it really enhances the model, in my opinion. Nice work!
