Thanks to everyone for some great ideas. I don't have the skill to do a design myself, but I might be able to adapt the DC-9. It's a thought.

Thanks again!

Jon: there's a DC-8 from Ingenia for sale now on French ebay. Here's the link. It's pretty expensive, 50 euros, so I doubt that anyone will bid against you if you decide to go for it.

Best regards, Tom Greensfelder

Good luck with your project - it's certainly do-able, and worth doing The ebay item Tom linked to is a tad pricey and not a very good kit from what i can see, but with a bit of extra work, she may look ok. BUT i'd go with your first plan.

Andreas

I sure wish I can build one for my studio it was the first jet I've been as a child, then later was an Convair 880, back in the sixties..

And the scale is very convenient, too bad as I read it ended there.

thanks for the eye candy

After I read through that post I was amazed to find the guy would not release it because of copyright concerns from the airlines. So why not release the model as a blank?

There's a great drawing of a DC-8 here. The thread was posted around a week ago, in another post. it has a DC-8 there.

Aircraft drawings download, line drawings, detail drawings. Fighters, bombers, passengers, conventional and other aircraft

Returning from Japan while in USMC September'79 We flew on the Flying Tigers stretch 8. Smoked my last cigarette on final to Honolulu. Sure was alot more comfortable than the C-130 with web seats we were in for like 20 hours to get to Iwakuni. Would love a paper kit of that bird. Could be wrong but I think the tail scheme was as picture #1 and it was a passenger setup so the body had windows and stripe like the 2nd photo.

Zathros - You are 100% right! Why not to publish a blank one?
Turning all of that into a joke, I wouldn't say anybody would have any 'copyright concerns from the airlines' in this case...

By the way, how about DC-8 in KLM colours?
There are a couple of paper airliners in KLM colours like: B-747, DC-9, DC-10, Fokker F-27, so there weren't any problems I think?!!
