Fly fishing
OK GUYS and GALS,
Here it is,,, My little contribution the paper modeling community. ( First a little bit of background info. ) I have been fishing since I was a little kid. And have been tying my own fly's for over ten years now. One day about three years ago I was working on a Braille scale airplane at my fly tying desk and it hit me,,, The thing was about the same size as a dragon fly lure that I tie. So I thought,,, WHAT THE HECK,,, I ran a hook through the fuselage with the eye under the prop,,, and the hook as the tail wheel,,, and I glued it into place. I showed it to my wife who thought it looked kinda cute. ( I also tie presentation fly's that I mount into clear boxes to display ) So,,, I had to figure out a way to display these little lures too. I came up with a couple of concepts for them,,, and the rest is just alot of fun. I have made over twenty different types of airplane fishing lures inbetween other modeling projects and have plans for more. I have given a couple of them to guys that have their own airplanes and also like to fish. And, I have given a couple of them to my good friend Bob Martin. So I hope you all enjoy my little creations. Gary ( musicman ) |

Some hobbies 'combine' better than others, but this is pretty sweet.

Pretty trick idea with some mighty nice results.
Have you considered coating the plane with a sealer to make it water proof and giving it a spin, er, try, to see what you might catch? I am sure that there are some Pike or other prehistoric species of fish that might like to try devouring the fry of something that brings fishermen to their locale to try and hook them. LOL

Jay, wasn't that just on the SyFy channel - one of their B- movies about a big fish that eats floatplanes ...

What a great idea! It's one of those "Why didn't I of that" ones. It's so obvious once you see it. What size hooks are you using? As for actually catching fish with one, I think that it's very possible but only if the fish are going completely bonkers for a specific fly color and the airplane fly matches up well with that color and the size is right,.....etc.

Dear Prof Harrold Hill:
Now lots of lures have stuff streaming off the back. You have to do one of the older Bi planes that pulled the bannors allong the Beaches with advertising on it!!! Good Luck, MILES how about Musicmans Bate and Tackle Emporium |
