OBP Lear Fan Beta Build
Here's the latest from the Odd Ball Productions skunk works, the Lear Fan. The model comes on six parts sheets and has one instruction sheet. So far all the pieces fit together nicely. I added a penny in the nose for weight, and added some reinforcement pieces for the external control surfaces and engine pods. To make these pieces I just printed out a second copy of Page 3 and cut out the parts outline. I used two layers of cardstock to build up some thickness. This will help keep the external parts aligned and in the right shape when attached to the fuselage.

Looks great Knife. I love your idea to reinforce the parts added to the fuselage.

Nice and neat so far. Used that same reinforcement technique before, simple but works.
Looking forward to the rest of the build. |

Continuing the build, I used the shaft from a Q-Tip to allow the propeller to spin. I could have used a toothpick, but then it wouldn't be an all paper model. I also made up my own stand for the model. The wingspan of the model is 15", which puts the scale of the model at 1/32 scale. There wasn't much need for a beta build on this model, since everything fit and lined up properly. The model should be available shortly from Murph's Models website Murph's Models

Wow Aaron you knocked that out quick...looks great! I'll get that one for sure.
Had a chance to go to work for Lear back when they were tooling up to build the Fan, I passed on it and was glad i did, they only built 3 prototypes and no production planes. The FAA would not give them airworthiness certificate because of the high wear on the gears in the gearbox driving the pusher prop.....Rich P.S. one of the 3 prototypes is at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field
