Skinned alive! Here is the fuse segment with the skins in place. I had a heck ov a time wrapping these segments around the framing. If I had to do it again, I would scratch the upper rudder extension ribs and maybe put the wing spars separate and sort of push them thru, they could be one piece the a bit stronger and would keep getting bent.

Looks like a good start on this big bird, Ted, even with the initial challenges

Love those Fleet Air Arm aircraft!

Thanks Don. I too have a soft spot for the FAA. I have a love for anything that lands on a floating platform doing close to 100mph and stopping in a split second, Over and over again!
Next on the list is the rudder. It starts out as a neat simple foldover a cardboard former, the has little curved pieces to form the complex leading edge. This is then faired into a straight air scoop...

Air scoops. Next on the list is to attach the front office and fair the airintakes into it. Thanks to the connecting strips on the leading edge of the fuselage this was a snap. You then insert the interiors. all well designed and excellant fit...

That's an impressive-looking fuselage, ted; both in terms of the pugnacious appearance of the airplane and the quality of your craftsmanship.

Incidentally, I have no idea why I commented on a "good beginning" for a model that has been under construction since March. I was in the office and typing faster than I was thinking. Anyway, it's a terrific model of a great subject.

Interesting model/plane. I had not even heard of this particular plane before. Looking at it, it reminds me a lot of the F-4 Phantom.

Exclamation On display at the Intrepid museum in NYC

I had the opportunity of seeing this big plane at the Intrepid aircraft carrier museum in New York City. Here is a picture I took in 2009
