I particularly liked your creative use of McDonald's landfill, truly a case of "necessity is the mother of invention", what did you use to heat the plastic?

I am certainly looking forward to the solution.

Used a heat gun - can't help thinking it might have been a bit brutal.

Going to have to take my time over this. Probably going to carve one out of wood

Will take my time and do a proper job - be a first!

Tim

Next week is the 71st year anniversory of the first flight of the Gloster E28/39 ( the Whittle test plane ) It was May 1941.

How are you doing with the canopy?

Cheers

Isaac

Getting there, Isaac

Been doing a lot of thinking. Have figured out a design and materials for the vac-form unit.

Tried to use the Orlik kit solid anopy as a mould / template. Unfortunately, it's not right. Will have to carve a new one out of Balsa.

how did i miss this thread.

you did a wonderful work on this model, i like it very much.

i also like your great idea using the round plastic cover to do the canopy, it solve a lot of problems when we don't have a vacuum form or an original canopy.
you made the canopy issue to looks simple...thanks a lot.

The picture shows a build by Leen Lems, Holland. He solved the canopy problem the 'easy' way: cut out plastic parts from simple flat foil (overhead sheet type) using parts 50/50a as templates. Bend and add frame parts 51/51a. Use instant glue to attach to the fuselage. Not easy, but a very acceptable result.
