Yeah, my web site provider went into a seemingly never ending maintenance period before I could get that changed

No.14 Ryan L-17 Navion, originally 1/23
No.14 Ryan L-17 Navion, a repaint of the Navy version, is now up. Even at 1/72, it seems
to me that it's just as hard as doing it at 1/200, perhaps because of age. So, there's nothing much about this simpliest repaint of all. Just washed away all the insignia markings and it jumped off as a civilian. Since there's no former in this simple model, so I don't expect too much symmetry. Anyway, hope the pictures will amuse you a little. Papermate |

Great build as always. It looks so clean when devoid of markings.

How in the world did you build the landing gear tubes??? So small...

3 P's - Practice, Patience and Persistence. I normally wrap the tube around a piece of wire,
the thinnest piano wire in this case, and keep rolling and rolling until satisfied. That's my 2-cent. Papermate |

Mighty pretty. I have this one (and most of Aaron's models) and hope to build one in the Navy livery for a buddy who is a retired Navy pilot who owns and flies a Navion.

Thanks, Don, to me it's always great to build something for somebody.
It's kinda service, right? Papermate |

Hey papermate, do you coat your models (these anyways) with something? There is a very shiny look to your models, and they look awesome.

First a layer of clear paint on the template after printing. This is to prevent accidental spoiling of the printed surface and to strengthen the paper. This first layer is usually not too visible. After the model is finished and before installing the spinning prop, l will coat the second and final layer of the same clear paint to give it some gloss. This final layer of clear paint can also hide most of the imperfection like seams and others like scratched surfaces. You can try it out on you new or even old built models.
