John, thanks for the info. I was somewhat aware of that problem which is another reason I want to get them transferred. Unfortunately when the floppy drive showed up it was an internal one, not the external with USB connection I thought it was. Not techie enough to try and install the internal one so back searching again. Looks like Amazon has them available. Most of them I have prints and negs so could always scan, but would be so much easier to get it off the discs if possible.

Have you tried Fry's electronics? Last I checked, they had external floppy drives,

Yeah Aaron that was the 1st place I checked and out of stock and they didn't know if it would be restocked. I found some on Amazon so guess I'll give that a shot.

Finally got my external drive. Tried a few discs; only had one that wouldn't read so far. The primary problem is they are lo-res roughly 5 x 8 at 72dpi. So did a comparsion and my scan off the print comes out better.

Anyhow here's another shot of the WB57.

America's Most Important Warplane Is Old, Ugly ... and Flown by NASA | Danger Room | Wired.com

Part of the reason Pima has the partial airframe is that the airplane is still being used operationally today as a Battlefields Airborne Communications Node (BACN) platform. The plane has the capacity to carry all the gear required to translate the multiple data links used by the US and Allied forces so everyone can communicate.
Those big wings enable it to get to high altitude so it can have line-of-sight with ground stations and airborne platforms.
As long as the plane is still operational, the military will likely try to keep all the spare parts on hand - especially engines. Pima will get its complete airplane, it just might take a while. :-)

Reference the refurb on 13295, my brother has no additional info or pics. His was a very limited role. You did an excellent job on this bird.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that followed and commented on this build thread, and to those that selected the model for POTW.

This thread has generated an idea for another thread dealing with how to hide intergal tab seams. A subject I'd never thought of covering before.

I have several test builds for several designers that need my attention before the seam issue is addressed, so please be patient while I take care of that business first.

Happy New Year to everyone,

Swampfox

You realize what this means, SF? I may have to finish a PLASTIC model before tackling another card airplane. Oh, the humanity...!
