Pima WB-57F update
One of my Christmas gifts to myself was to head down to Tucson and hang out with one of my old friends down there and then spend a day at Pima. Here a couple of photos of the 57 were its been shoved even further back in the lot. Enough to bring a tear to your eye.
Will post the link to the rest when I get them all entered. About 300 images so don't know when that will be. |

To which plane did those lone wings belong to in the second picture, Whulsey?

Legion, don't have a clue. All of that was in the back lot behind a fence and was as close as I could get.

WB-57F returning to flight?
Just recently learned a couple of bits of info that some of you might find interesting.
In Aug.2011. Wb-57F ((63-13295) was removed from AMARC-Tuscon, Az and shipped to somewhere on the front range of Colorado. It is being/has been cleaned up, refitted and brought back to flight status. It will soon be flying with NASA's other 2 WB-57F's. On April 1, 2013 I received a phone call from Mike Rowland, Curator at Warner-Robbins AFB Museum in Georgia. Their RB-57F (63-13293) has been removed from static display at the WR museum and is being returned to active status. It is on it's way to Colorado, possibly Boulder area for refurbishing and will be used, for now, as a static (ground use only) teaching tool to help train the next group of people that will be taking care of the three 57's that NASA now uses!! There are 2 maybe 3 other WB-57F's out at AMARC and another on display at Pima County Air Museum outside Tuscon... It's been somewhat parted out to keep the NASA ac flying. I contacted Jerry Albright, Director NCAR in Boulder and he said he'd check to see if he can find out where the 2 planes are located at this time. Does anyone in this forum have any info that contradicts this info? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks, Swampfox |
