cfm verlag P2V-7 Neptune 1/50

Ahoy
This is the P2V-7 Neptune in the scale of 1/50 I have another in 1/33 scale.... Looks like a easy build compared to the Hobby model 1/33 scale bird, I will start this as of now and have som,e pictures posted by this evening.. From the kits contense look rather simple a good week build perhaps faster this is the second Neptune i have ever constructed the first one I built was in 1955 the old Revell box scale kit, so its been a longgggggggg time there is no cockpit interier details or landing gear interiers either but a colorfull canopy and bombers dome transparentcy. makeing the build quicker, but i will savor the build. the kit in general is very clean and the printing is great.. My hands are rubbing to start the build here is a couple pictures of the kit.

Fuselage construction

Ahoy
Here is the update build report on my Neptune I got a pretty good start on her as you can see the build is going quite nicely all skins 1 through 8 are constructed the build reminds me of Ron B-17 side by6 side starting with skin and former No. 1 following the numerical order.. My only beef with the kit is that there are no interier details and the paper is very flimsy compared to other kits. But one must take extra care handeling the model when under construction... Tomorrow I should have the intire fuselage finished then i will go on to the tail feathers.. in the scale of 1/50 its a sizeable model almost the size of the monogram B-29 just a tad smaller but still big. Here is the update build report fellas more tomorrow.

Finishing up the Fuselage assembly

Ahoy
Here is a update build report on the Truculent Turtle on the following pictures the main fuselage asembly is completed there are a few more parts to be added on then i will go to the tailfeathers... The fit of parts are excellent no bad fit issues keeping my flippers clean at all times dont take much to smear up the gull gray and white printing. looks like it will be a fast build I should have this done next week..gioing through Rons collections I found another P2V-7 Neptune in 1/33 scalke by Hobby model, A better kit by far. I will post some more build pictures later this evening for now is far as I got and still going.

Great to see you are started on your huge pile of kits from Ron. The Neptune is a fine looking bird, and your build is going very well Skipper.

Hey, a man after my own heart. I flew over a thousand hours aboard one of these babys in the mid 60's. Even made it through a few "incidents". It is quite a plane and we had a lot of faith in her as well. We survived some pretty harrowing situations and always came home safe. I was a Julie/ECM operator but spent most of my time in the radio seat. I have the Plastic 1/72 model and also the HobbyModel paper model which I haven't built yet. Watching with interest.

I wonder if anyone could do a re-paint for me of the Hobby model with my Squadron markings. I was in VP-31 DETNI and my plane was RP-37

Ahoy shipmate
Great to hear from a naval airdale when i was a small boy i use see the P2vs flying all the time they even used them in Vietnam we use to pullo in Camrahn bay and anthoi we use to see them buzz around all the time by the early 1970s they were stricken from the naval register and the P3 Orions were their successors.. I have the also the Hobby model P2V in 1/33 scale a great kit like yourself I am not keen on French markings the only plastic kit of the Neptune I built in years past is the old box scale Revell kit not a bad kit from what I rememberd,.. thanks for your reply I am pretty certain that maybe Gremir can help you on a repaint on your kit.

Tail Feathers assembly

Ahoy
Update build report for today is the tail feathers on the following pictures shows the construction of the horizonal and verticle stabilizers nothing unusuall here there are no ribs for these nothing but a boxed structure with ribs on the roots of the stabilizers and rudder assemblies.. next the wings will come into play the build is pretty clean no high gloss which I am good for no fit issues on the kit thus far my only gripe is that they could have used heaver card stock like that of most card kits this build has to be handeled with care or you will wrinkle up the buiold and it will be ruined next build report will be the wings.
