FG MiG -15 Redraw/Repaint

This first paper model that I purchased and built was Fiddlers Green MiG-15. That got me hooked. So I thought that I would do a redraw and recolour of the FG MiG-15.

So after I did the redraw and added the detailing, I thought that I would try an aluminum finish. I read the article "Painting Aluminum Looking Aircraft Panels in Photoshop" by Gil Russell, I gave it a shot. Instead of Photoshop, I use Gimp. I think the Aluminum Finish turned out a little dark, but it might just be the laser printer that I use.

Hope You Enjoy!

Here's a photo of my parts all cut out and set up to start to be rolled and glued.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that. We shall wait and see what the final aircraft looks like.

Here's the fuselage, wings, and tail section completed, (Clear canopy done FG style with packing tape). Any first timers, please remember to install the air splitter in the front section of the fuselage before you glue it to the main section.

I inserted a little tissue paper into the vertical stabilizer to give it a little shape. I also found that inserting round toothpicks into the wings, gives them a real nice shape. I also added a tail pipe, I think that it adds a nice touch.

Enjoy!
Gary

Smile

Here's the finished product, I added a few detailed parts. It's time to put together a couple of other liveries. I'll post those when I get them completed.

Looks really good to me. Not too dark. Good job on the canopy

Yeah, I agree. That came out real good. I don't think it came out too dark at all. Good color. Good build. I look forward to your next one.

Thank you everybody for the great feedback. I really appreciate it, I'm now working on KPAF version. I hope to post it in the next couple of days.

Thanks Again!

I haven't completed any updates, but I just wanted to let everybody know that Scott has been gracious enough to include my MiG redraw/repaint in the Fiddlers Green MiG-15 download.

Thank you Jose Luis for letting me know!
