Fiddlers Green Super Cub
Hi Folks.
I have been fooling around trying to repaint the Fiddlers Green Super Cub for the past 3-4 days. Actually I started out with the L-4 Grasshopper, as it had a much better black and white version than the Super Cub, which is an older model (the Grasshopper has been more recently redrawn). This is the result. Its a model of the PA-18 as used by Israel from the mid 1950s till recently as a primary trainer. This is the first test build I did. Notice how I flipped the emblem but then forgot to flip the text back on one side? Doh!! The rest looks pretty good. And since its Fiddlers Green it builds really fast. Now I just have to fix it up in photoshop and build it one more time for Real. |

That looks great, a very nice clean build.
I was adding the PA-18 to my list of must do's. My uncle used to own a small airline in Steinbach, MB, and had a couple of Super Cubs. Did you find any fit issues? Thanks, Gary

Nicely done. I, too, am curious about the tires.

Thanks. The model is mostly the "old" version of the FG Grasshopper, but with the FG Super Cub engine cowling. I had to resize the cowling a bit, but it seems to fit OK. The rest was fine- no real issues.
The wheels are colored wooden ones from the local hobby store, with the paper model tire sides glued on. |
