Question Looking for XP-59A

I see on ecards these versions of the Airacomet : 1/32 Bell XP-59 Airacomet Smokey Stover and RAF Test Aircraft Paper Model – Ecardmodels.com

However, is there one with the original olive drab scheme? The first XP-59A

Also, is there a cockpit to these models?

There was an olive drab version on Nobi's original site when I bought it, but I don't see it in the current shop (Thaipaperwork). You could try contacting him. Also, there is a basic cockpit included.

Isaac, as mentioned above, yes there is a cockpit. HERE (<---CKICK) is the thread I started building the original model from Nobi in that olive drab color, but I never finished that model. It stayed in the state it is shown in the last photo. My youngest son took possession of it after a couple trips to the local model show to exhibit paper models to the plastic boys. My son didn't care it didn't have the canopy finished. LOL!

I thought perhaps Nobi would put his older kits on Ecardmodels, but I guess he's decided not to do so as of yet. I only see the most recent works so far on Ecards.

Exclamation Acuracy

Did anyone else build the olive drab XP-59A model to completion?

I would like to see those photos especially around the engine inlets which blended smoothly to the wings and also had a boundary layer separator

Here is a picture of the actual plane and inlet
Bell XP-59 Airacomet, NATC YF2L version-xp-59a-inlet.jpg

The canopy was also in line with the fuselage ( not raised as in later production versions ).

Hopefully the kit will be available back on Ecard site.

Issac,

Look here at the Relunctant Robot version.
1/32 Bell XP-59 Airacomet Reluctant Robot and Bare Metal Paper Model – Ecardmodels.com

I built that one complete for photos on the website (model eventually sent to Chris G. for a project he had).

The photos in the listing show different angles of the inlet area. But, the canopy included (I didn't do clear), looked like the bubbled canopy, not the straight one on the prototype. That's the way Nobi modeled it in the original kit.

You are right in that this is not an XP-59A, but rather a production version which had a modified vertical fin and a larger bubbled canopy ( framed ).

My redesign skills to convert it to the XP-59A are just not there, So I will wait.

I may consider purchasing the silver version in any case.

Thanks for the link.

Isaac

No problem Issac.

I tried in the past fixing the canopy, but I don't think I got very far with re-drawing it. When the production A versions with the changed canopy were built, the canopy was not as pronounced as the model has it showing. it was a very slight bubble as shown in this page, 4th and 5th pic. https://www.skytamer.com/Bell_P-59A.html The prototype was very flat compared to this one. One day in the future, when I find time....I may try it again to re-draw and make the canopy a little flatter.
