Kondor D-6 by MBig

A few weeks ago I bought some Windsock Worldwides on Ebay. I've found very interestning me plans of plane in one of them. There plans of Bi-, three-, or 1 1/2 -plane. To nice for me. I have decided to design it. First problem - just two old photos in internet and resin model from Choroszy.
This is german fighter prototype from WW1 - Kondor D-6.

There are sheets with parts.

There are sheets with assembly drawings.

This mmodel is easy to build, but there can be a difficult stage with fitting top wings.

First, photos of my alfa model. Now you know why I said bi-, three- or 1 1/2- plane.

I started building fuselage. Superstructure parts are glueed on cardboard 1 mm. Fuselage is small and that superstructure is very strong.

There are photos with finished cocpit.

Cocpit in model is very simple because I didn't find any photo or drawing.

To be continued ...

I have found a little reference about this strange bird in The Aerodrome Forum:
Kondor Flugzeug-Werke G.m.b.H. in Essen was for the most part a firm that built other firms aircraft under license from Idfleig. They attempted to design their own aircraft but were unsuccessful. They built some Kondor Taube machines in 1915 for the Fliegertruppe. The Kondor W1 in 1915, the W2C in 1916 were unsuccessful. They offered the D.I, D.II biplanes in 1918 at the second Fighter Competion in July 1918,both failed to make the grade. There were other biplane designs the came to naught, the Kon. D6 and D7.
The kondor D VI biplane had a140 h.p. oberursel Ur III rotary engine, or a 200 h.p. goebel rotary engine. the complete center section of the upper wing was eliminated to improve the pilots vision.

It looks very good. Maybe you will consider a 1:32nd version. It looks good in the louzenge scheme, but the prototype for the fighter competition was likely painted light blue-gray, as it seems most of the entries were so painted (not a criticism).

Hello again.
I have built engine, very simple model of engine, because it will be covered and not easy to see.
I'd like to show my tip for turning rotary engine, when engine is bigger then central hole in engine cover.
First, all parts.

I mounted axle for engine. Next, I put on engine. IMPORTANT. Check how is engine is turning. I put engine stopper on axle with 0,5 mm free space and I drop super glue on axle, just 5 mm from stopper. I move that drop to the stopper for glueing stopper to axle. IMPORTANT. Check engine movement, if you fill any resistance, you have a few seconds for stripping it down.

After a few minutes I cut rest of axle close as possible to stopper and I fit front part of engine (must be solid).

I put on engine cover on the last photo, just for checking.

to be continued...
