Preliminary version which still has a lot of F-16C in it.

Still some time before New Year's day, but here's my draft of the prewar VP-21 Sangley Point PBY-4 backdated from Bruno's PBY-5/A.

I'm fairly confident about 21-P-10 given decent reference photos and illustrations, but went out on a limb with 21-P-3 with only a couple of orthochromatic b/w photos. My best guess is the rudder and upper elevators are true blue, and the nonstandard upper wing markings are as documented (parked squadron photo from above).

If anyone has corrections to suggest, let me know so I can edit then re-release in time for the new year - I'll probably start a new download folder with this and the PBM, plus extras.

Hello again.
I've been a little bit in a design frenzy over the last few days, creating 5 new models (some quite similar variants) in as many days.
Here some test builds. I still need to design the undercarriage before I can even think of getting them ready for sharing. (the same holds for the 2 VTOL planes).
If I don't post in the next few days, all the best for the new year to all.

Interesting models that didn't pass the prototype stage.
Is this my imagination or some one took the fuselage of a Me-263, and forgot to put the sweep wings, and to compensate added a T tail or may be a case of convergent evolution?

There would have to be some influence there. Early Cold War jet development relied heavily on German WWII ideas, knowledge and experience.

Don Boose would be the better one to ask re wing chevron colours, but in line with all the pre-war US Navy subjects I've done, I'm pretty sure the chevron was to be painted as per the colour allocated to each 3 plane section within a squadron.
1st Section..a/c#1,2,3....Insignia Red
2nd '' ...a/c#4-5-6....White
3rd '' ...a/c#7-8-9....True Blue
4th '' ...a/c#10-11-12...Black
5th '' ...a/c#13-14-15...Willow Green
6th '' ...a/c#16-17-18...Lemon Yellow

So if your PBY was say, 21-P-8, then the wing chevron and top half of engine cowlings would be True Blue.

Best wait for Don to confirm or correct the foregoing; and hopefully he should be also able to confirm the rudder colour for VP-21.
CaFe and Rata,

This is the VP-21 PBY photo I was referring to:

File:PBY-4s VP-21 at Sangley Point2 1939.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Anyway I started a new download folder for my Sangley Point recolors, but made sure to refer to attachments of Bruno's original topic for his USCG PBM and USN P5M. You'll see the third recolor after moderator approval, and I plan to add one more file.

Happy new year!

I started the year with a "small" model to complete my "2001: A Space Odyssey" trio.
Here some pictures.
