Still some time before New Year's day, but here's my draft of the prewar VP-21 Sangley Point PBY-4 backdated from Bruno's PBY-5/A.
I'm fairly confident about 21-P-10 given decent reference photos and illustrations, but went out on a limb with 21-P-3 with only a couple of orthochromatic b/w photos. My best guess is the rudder and upper elevators are true blue, and the nonstandard upper wing markings are as documented (parked squadron photo from above). If anyone has corrections to suggest, let me know so I can edit then re-release in time for the new year - I'll probably start a new download folder with this and the PBM, plus extras. |

There would have to be some influence there. Early Cold War jet development relied heavily on German WWII ideas, knowledge and experience.

This is the VP-21 PBY photo I was referring to: File:PBY-4s VP-21 at Sangley Point2 1939.jpg - Wikimedia Commons Anyway I started a new download folder for my Sangley Point recolors, but made sure to refer to attachments of Bruno's original topic for his USCG PBM and USN P5M. You'll see the third recolor after moderator approval, and I plan to add one more file. Happy new year! |
