I'm stumped. My knowledge, and research resources, is focused on U.S., British Empore/Comonwealth, and Japanese aircraft, with some more superficial knowledge and holdings on Chinese, French,, and Italian. I find some vaguely similar aircraft, but none that looks just like this one.
I look forward to finding out what the mystery aircraft is. Don |

My two cents: It looks either Italian or Japanese...no idea what it is...

Could it be the Romanian IAR-15? IAR-15 - Wikipedia The model does not have a braced vertical stabilizer, but otherwise looks similar.
I also thought it looked Italian or Japanese, but so far, I have been unable to find any aircraft of either country that replicates the model. My two main hard-copy sources: Jonathan W. Thompson, Italian Civil and Military Aircraft 1930-1945 (Aero, 1963). Robert Mikesh and Shorzoe Abe, Japanese Aircraft, 1910-1941 (Putnam Aeronautical Books, 1990). I did a page-by-page search of both books with no joy. Don Last edited by Don Boose; 08-14-2023 at 01:38 PM. |

At one point that IAR was competitor to P-11 being considered for licence production. It lost likely due to Italian inspired construction as opposed to all metal P-11 that was seen as stronger and longer lasting. Fast forward few years and IAR got licence for PZL P-24
but it was never produced due to incomplete documentation and no jigs were supplied by PZL. Sept 1939 happened. What IAR had was enough to greatly help create IAR-80 but that's another story |

It really is a very interesting and unknown type, at some point I thought it was the Caproni Vizola F-5, but the fixed landing gear left the mystery in the air. Thank you very much for drawing these unique types Bruno, certainly when it is available it will go to my collection.
