One model per (non-working) day

Hi PMs,

You might start to believe I'm an paper model addict.
The last few days I have been designing and building an aircraft a day.
(at least when I'm not at work)

Today's design is a 1/100 scale Dassault M-450 Ouragan.
I took the (simple) colour scheme of the aircraft from the Brussels Air Museum.
I attached two pictures.

I fond memories of Brussels. I lived there in the early seventies, and went to school next to the Congo museum

I don't have elves, I have some simple math formulas in a spreadsheet (I studied Physics a long time ago) and Word to draw the models.
I think tomorrow I'll try the Saab Draken.

I lived for years in the same village (Tervuren). I prefered the Air Museum rather than the Congo Museum, though.

I used to use Word Draw for simple designs but later changed to Open Office Draw.

Do you use any other software for design ?
How do you color the models ?

I simply color the elements in word using RGB codes found on the internet. I normaly color without gradients unless it adds to the realism. You can also use patterns in Word, like the one (hammered metal) I used for the nose of the Spirit of Saint Louis. (picture is not very good).

On rare occasions I use Gimp for airbrush style schemes and I place the obtained image behind the Word elements. Not the most fancy method, but it works fine for me.

I tried Open office but had a problem with the "arc" objects so I stayed with MS Word.

I must admit that not all models can be done in one day. Last week I spent three days (not continuously) on the A20 Boston. The longest job has been on the short c-class. Not an easy model.
