Karl - what a pity on that pretty airplane. Good to hear, though, that the pilot made it.

Ryan - belated congrat's on your new pretty airplane!

Nice landing though

The Turbulent's landing without floats was well executed. The crowd later picked the Turbi up and brought it to the beach.

Ryan, a taildragger in its natural skin - quite a right purty bird. Are you giving tail dragger lessons in it? In fact that'd make a beautiful all aluminum 1:24 model.

Yeah, I don't give a ton of lessons in her with my real job taking up a lot of time, but that's her! Fun plane. And you're right, that would be a perfect aluminum job.

@Mr. Leif Ohlsson,
Hi, I am relatively new to this hobby. I have been trying to understand how to glue up the horizontal stabilizer. will i was able to understand the leading edge part, and the trailing edge. The sides are still a mystery to me. and how does one 'Close" these edges?
For the Cessna 172.
I shall be building the original plans by Julius.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hello Yashod (hope I got that right),

Closing the fuselage remained a mystery to me as well, when studying Jule Perdana's original design. Which is why I redesigned the fuselage parts in the 1/87 rescaled version which is offered in the downloads section. The description of that version can be found earlier in this thread.

I haven't actually built either version, so you will just have to make your own choice of which version to build. If you decide to build my version, I think it would be wise to rescale it back to some larger scale. 1/87 admittedly is very small... In any case, do have a look at the redesign of the fuselage parts, and see if the redesign might help you out. Perhaps you could do something like it with your original scale model.

I think this is a very worthy project to build and I do wish you luck. Hope to see the story of your build published here on the site!

Leif

Here's a comparison for easier judgement. First the fuselage parts from the original model:

I thought that you could eliminate the top glue join by redesigning the fuselage sides and let the bottom part become a separate part, like this:

In addition I added gluestrips for closing the engine compartment top. Perhaps some of these changes could be incorporated into your original scale build?
