Gloster Whittle, Orlik 9/2005 1:33 Scale
Right gents, straight on with another aircraft build:
Seems a nice little kit, have also bought the laser kit. Construction starts with the cockpit area Am also building up the nose leg assembly and plant to mount this on a rod running through the nose wheel bay. This should give it a stronger mounting point. There is great scope for adding axtra detail in the sparse cockpit - I'll leave that for some one else to do. Tim |

Good choice, Tim! I've had this one in my shopping cart once or twice, but it never made it to checkout. I don't usually go in for jets, but this one is less jet-like than most (for obvious reasons), and it doesn't have a tedious radial engine to build, either (a big plus!).
Cheers!

Good one, Tim. The first impeller powered jet, and much neglected.

Off to a good start Tim. I have the Gremir download version of this one, and very nice it is too, so will be following with interest. Will you be including the engine?
All the best and happy modelling Bernie |

Good choice of an early experimental jet. I too got the kit with the laser frames and will build as well ( so many kits, so little time! ) The scale however is 1:33, but your title states 1:25 scale. Is it a typo or did you scale it up? Good progress so far. How do you plan to make the canopy? Vacuform it? That is so far the one thing holding me back. Cheers Isaac |

Thanks for your kind comments gents
Isaac - My mistake on scale - Still got my armour building head on! Will probably scratchbuild the canopy. Bernie - Won't be building the engine, can't really get any enthusiasm for it Tim |

A fine beginning, Tim. I'm glad to see you continuing with historic aircraft and will be watching closely with pleasure.

This is a very interesting kit. I've only studied it, but learned a lot about the engine that way. Most intriguing, kind of backward, if you look at it with the advantage of historical hindsight... - L.

Fuselage time:
This is made up of 1mm formers with card bridging strips laid over before the skins are adhered. Concentrated on getting the cockpit right the worked outwards from there. Luckily there are small alingnment marks at the top which help. Also added some weight to the nose to balance the model on its undercarriage. Also built up the nose leg: Fixed this in with a paper-clip: Should make this joint a lot stronger and avoid problems later on. Tim |
