I have made a start on the Vampire. So far so good. I am using 80gsm photo copy paper. It is just right.
There are three formers inside the fuselage. One at the back to hold the tail pipe and one each end of the centre section. I cut them just on the outside of the line so there was only black line showing. I placed them at the far end of each segment, on top of the joining strip. They were slightly big, pulling in the surface a bit. On the third one I put in, I cut on the line. It fit perfectly. I put a little plasticine in the nose to make it sit on all three wheels. I left the white bits between the cuts in the canopy to use as tabs. It worked well. The wings have a very unusual multi facet curve at the roots that mates perfectly with the fuselage. Robert After looking at the sixth picture I noticed the trailing edge of the wing, near the red x, dropped a little below the line. The other side is spot on. |

I finished the Vampire this morning. I had only one issue. When I attached the booms, they leaned inwards a bit. I got them straight by twisting one and cutting the slot a little larger in the other. Now I suspect this is my error and not a design problem. I kept the boom parts and the bit that joins them to the wing as pairs. But I may have managed to mixthem up and put them on the wrong side, causing the lean.
Once finished, it seemed to sit a little high at the rear. Checking pictures revealed that the stance can be from level to tail down depending on the individual aircraft. As the ones I have seen in real life have been tail down, I cut 1mm of the main gears to make the tail sit lower. It is a fantastic looking jet when finished. |

1/100 De Havilland DH-100 Vampire
I just finish my Vampire in tiny scale and start a new project...guess what?
and 1/100 De Havilland Vampire is available for free download at my blog store here THAIPAPERWORK : Online Store Thank you very much for your support on my commercial model too :-) Below is picture is my build, not neat enough because my eye is no good due to eye surgery several year ago. Model is print on 130 gram photo glossy paper. You can print model in another paper but I recommend that not use too thin paper (below 100 gram) because you will meet a problem with internal former. and below is a preview of kit . Build and share your finish model picture too us. Model in tiny world is fun even though it will stress your eye too much, ha ha ha
