This version was an armed trainer, no wing cannons. I think the cannons were on the prototype for the B version and the production B-2 Zerstorer version.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

My next repaint and build is of the P-47 "Tony" from the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron. I have found pictures of 4 different markings for this plane and will include them all. The last version had a Malcolm hood grafted to it's original canopy.
Please note that this is only a test build and it will not have the star and bar on the top right wing (I just flipped the right wing to build the flaps down).

Some bankground on the 5th Emergency Rescue Squadron.

Whenever a bomber mission was launched, two P-47 “Thunderbolts” of the Emergency Rescue Squadron would take off from Boxted. The aircraft would track the bombers over the channel listening for any distress calls. When a call for help came, one P-47 would keep circling over the spot where the incident occurred. The aircraft would also drop flares or a small dinghy, then return to base to refuel and be replaced by another P-47. The other original Thunderbolt would keep listening in case there were any further incidents. So, all the time bomber formations were over the channel, there were two P-47’s in the air keeping watch. When a pilot or crewman came down in the sea, motor launches would be alerted to pick them up.

Thanks for looking,

Brent

Another outstanding model, Brent!

Those Rescue visibility stripes make for a unique color scheme.

Good subject choice Brent. Wasn't aware of 'rescue' P-47s until now.

I never heard of rescue P-47. Very good model and I'll see if I can find more about this subject.

Sometimes info on a bit obscure subject can be hard to find. I've been looking for some time for info on photo recce versions of B-17,B-24 and B-29 and if it wasn't for Osprey books I wouldn't have much of interest or value.

Thank you guys. I haven't had alot of time to do repainting or building lately and my production will be slower in the next few months.
