1/100 scale is the new black

Hello,

I have started building in 1/100 scale and have been enjoying it. I have been recolouring and building planes by Nobi, Bruno and Aaron.
Here are Nobi's Hellcat, Aaron's Betty and Bruno's Jill. I have just started a mod and recolour of Bruno's Tigercat to the F7F-3N.

1:100 is quite a nice scale to build in. The planes don't take up too much room

Excellent builds. At this stage of construction, the Tigercat somewhat resembles a U-2 with oversized engines.

Not sue if I can build at 1/100 scale, but I am certainly enjoying seeing all these great builds by you and others.

You would be surprised, Don, how easy it can be to build these models. The smaller scale requires some simplifications in the design, inducing less complicated and small parts, yet a very realistic result. It even allows for quick builds

I couldn't agree more when you say that "1/100 scale is the new black". It's the perfect balance between facility, realism and storage space.
Soon I'll be going back to that scale having done almost 600 (free) models in 1/300 scale. Even if that means that I'll have to disappoint a lot of builders.

I, for one, welcome your return to 1/100. I tried to enlarge a couple of your 1/300 models to 1/100, but I wasn't totally happy with the result. I think reducing is generally better than enlarging. Perhaps to keep everyone in the game regardless of their scale preference you could include 2 scale bars on your 1/100 models - one for 1/100, and one for 1/300, or alternatively, a statement such as "for 1/300 scale, print at X%". Just a thought.

I agree for years with this 1/100 for origin is architectural scale, and for metric measures is more rational. For me is a better scale between 1/144 and 1/72. With 1/100 scale you have a good size for a massive collection, not pssible in bigger scales for most people. Today I have 150 1/100 models builded, and I use a medium cabinet display for all with I believe space for more 200 models.
