1/200 A-6E for Veteran's Day
ResizedImage_1415549350813_zps707472aa-1.pdf
This is for the men and women who have risked their lives overseas protecting our freedom. As you may know, many of the people on this forum are veterans. This is a simple a-6e that I designed a while ago. I have made more complex improvements on this model, but this is the original version. This is simple, yet it can fly by simply stuffing the nose come with paper. Enjoy!

Is that pdf supposed to be a dimly lighted, hand drawn image on crumpled paper?

Sorry about that, since I'm not the best with soft ware I just hand draw my models and take a picture of the plans then convert to a pdf. I'm trying to find better ways to make plans, but there's only so much I can do before I have to buy some expensive 3d software. You seem to know your way around software, do you have any tips? Again, sorry.

Nah, I'm not that experienced with software. I was just curious if that is what you wanted to present or if you might have posted something else by mistake. Thanks for the effort.

If your printer has a scanner, I recommend to scan it, then use one of the free ware programs out there to clean it up, I recommend GIMP which is free and has a lot of bells and whistles. I save my drawings and plans in JPG's. The program that I use extensively is Paint Shop Pro. There is an earlier free version which works pretty good. I would recommend also Sketchup or other drafting programs but you will have to learn to use them. The good news is, that there are many tutorials on youtube that can help you with this. Keep working and hope to see some more of your stuff.

Nothing wrong with going the hand drawn route, but why not use better tools? Straight edges (ruler), better pens/pencils, some colour, etc. Draw it all on paper and then rather scan it to PC. Also not everyone has fantastic hand writing, so the possibility exists of modifying the scanned image in basic software (e.g. ms paint) and inserting typed instructions.
There are a few designers who go this route and come up with some fantastic designs. Look around the forum, search the web, there is lots of info out there. Note: Silveroxide posted as I was writing the above. |

Remodeled
Here is a shot of your work with redoned parts. The program that I used for this, is Paint Shop Pro but GIMP works as well. Using your outlines I cleaned them up and used a white background. It is best if the parts have a 90 degree angle to some of the sections. The angle will help in realigning one side and then copy paste for the other side. This way of freeline is easier than working with the cad programs. I usually design my models freehand and then scan them to my art program. From there I clean them up. Also, with the paint program, you can add the lettering more clear and readable. I hope that this helps and do not give up on designing, we need designers for us builders. Enjoy and as before, Hope to see your works soon.
PS: Some designers here also use MS PAINT which is also a good basic program. Last edited by silveroxide; 11-11-2014 at 10:02 AM. Reason: missing photo |
