Fiddler's Green S-51/R-5 repaint
Last week I was bitten by the repaint bug and decided to repaint the FG R-5 helicopter in Canadian colours. It was a simple model and an easy repaint as it was all one colour (yellow). I was a bit worried when I went to print it out since the printer was running out of ink, but it seemed to just have enough!

Here is the model half done. I don't know if it was me or the kit itself but fit for the fuselage parts were terrible! I had to do a lot of cursing...er..I mean re-cutting and re-gluing.

And here it is with the last bits done and some detailing added (like the hoist). I got the helipad off of a RPG website.
I didnt realize how large it would be. I'm not sure now what the scale is. Fiddlers Green is funny that way; they don't always say. |

That came out great, you should send the file back to FG so they can share it....Rich

Nice work. I always thought this was a good-looking helicopter.

Good looking model. Worked out well!
Here is a pic of the real thing.....(or very similar without quibbling too much about the model). http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/a...n-img_2083.jpg

Let's hear it for the Coast Guard.
BTW, I remember someone printing that on dayglo yellow paper |

That one was printed out on almost the last of some old 67pound cardstock I had sitting about. Now That I think of it, I also have some tan/yellow 65 pound cardstock that may have looked good too.
If I were to do this over I might go up to 110 cardstock as it is pretty large and I can't help but think that with no formers this whole thing will collapse under its own weight in the near future. |

Your re-paint is really looking good.
Did you use the four sheet B&W version to do the coloring job on? And great job on the markings too. Bet the coast guard guys would enjoy this one to build. Best Regards, Gary |
