meanwhile

i decided to try metal foil on this one
like paint, it should let me sand the shape smooth

and i'll make my own decals, or try

so i made copies of the parts (a step i sometimes skip, to my regret), since they will end up covered

i decided to add an internal circle at both ends of each section... since i'm butt gluing instead of using the little joining strips

This looks and sounds very interesting. Will you be using regular household aluminum foil to cover the parts?

My kit is already printed in foil (bought years ago through Scheuer and Struver). Yours isn't?

i'll be using bare metal foil

which is made for covering models

its thinner than regular household foil

my kit is printed with a kind of alumninum looking ink, that is what gave me the idea

one thing with the metal foil is that i will be able to assemble the kit and then sand it smooth and fill the seams and then apply the foil

progress

of sorts... with issues

i tried my usual strategy... using duplicate bulkheads at each end of the section
in this case i cased the sides to deform... so i had to go in and remove the "extra" bulkhead

more sections

and more bulkheads

very complex shapes

i had to resort to using gluing strips between sections

after getting to section 9 i discovered that the fuselage was "bent" in the middle, despite the edges of the sections being flush
so i broke it apart and adjusted it... i will have to cover the gap

the metal foil and the blank decal sheets arrive

Very nice work on the fuselage, I'm looking forward to seeing the foil.
