Another oldie

a nice 1/25 corsair... i must say, i really like 1/25 as a scale
This designer was pre computer
but his planes (although they don't have a lot of detail) are "bouncy"
and make up into cool models

i dont' like to read instructions

which sometimes gets me into problems
in this case i used the radiators for the wing oil coolers for foot pedals in the cockpit
and had to whip up some from spare parts
he has his own way of joining things together
which i don't really like... but then most plane models stick the wings against
the side of the fuselage in a way that makes them really hard to get a good fit and to get them glued
it seems it would make a much more satisfactory model if the wings were part of a unit that slipped into the bottom
of the fuselage...
as usual for these models (which will hang in my "office") no wheels down

I've always liked the PMI kits. They are fairly simple and easy to build but still look impressive.

fitting out

the details
a bamboo pin to mount the propeller
and bamboo plugs in the blades, with little pins to glue into the hub
i decided the strips supplied to cover the bend in the wings actually made it look worse
so i left them off

Couldn't remember where the wing fold joints were relative to the gull wing bend. And then couldn't remember the plane's designation, F7U was what my mind came up with; nope, Corsair is F4U when built by Vought, that makes a slight difference in the search results!
Found this image to show where wing fold joint is,

Looks great, Ken. I recall trying to build this one decades ago, and I think I still have one or two of the unbuilt kits in the basement.

Are these images of an old build, or have you just built an old kit?

wrong scale

Did I miss something as I have one and scale is 1:32 american version of MM scale of 1:33 based in Nazi paper models of WW2!

What do you mean by "bouncy"?
