Good work, Lucas. It is a pleasure to read your detailed report on the build and to see the images of this pretty little airplane taking shape.

Hi,
After long break it's time for next update. I've done engine cover. No problems with this part. There is only mistake, my mistake with color that I used to cover white lines.

I've made also seat and stick. I used Tamiya putty to form the leather parts of seat and I painted them using citadel brown paints.
I've changed also stick and made it more 'realistic' than flat one from the kit.

Next I finished cockpit. I had problem with part 14. This part was too long. I used sand paper to correct it.

Like I said before this part was also too short around 3-4 mm. The gap that you can see on pictures above is the result of this. I decided to leave it, coz this part won't be visible.

I've made also hull.

Coz my mistake there is small gap... :(

Now I am going to make wings. I hope that I will be able to finish them this week.

Lukas

It all looks very good. The airplane looks like one that would have appeared on the cover of Flying Aces magazine in the late 1930s. I like it!

Very good to see this model being built, and built well, with comments. Glad to see the engine cowl went together so well. Also the fine seat you created. Good to know about part 14 being too long - although I was wondering about its position, slanted and separated from the floor. Here's a drawing you may have seen and used:

Perhaps your position is the best compromise. If so, I'd much like to hear your thoughts about it.

Kind regards, Leif

Hello,

Thanks for all the comments

Leif, I haven't seen this picture before. I realized that I've made a mistake. Now it's a little bit too late to correct it. I've made cockpit according to picture in kit's instruction.
Ut-1(Ут-1) 1:33 orel-20160917_233329.jpg
Anyway thanks for this scheme it might be useful later

I've done wings. To finish them off I just have to make ailerons. But I will do them later.

Once I cut the wings out, I formed them with a little bit help of water glue.
Ut-1(Ут-1) 1:33 orel-20160914_205802.jpgUt-1(Ут-1) 1:33 orel-20160914_222742.jpg

Next, I fitted them without glue. When I was assure that everything is fine I stuck them.

After that, I added fairings.

Now, I am going to do tail.

Excellent clean and precise work on this little gem. I enjoyed reading the exchange between you and Leif on the positioning of the central cockpit girder. These kinds of threads are always most enlightening and a pleasure to read. Lots to learn about paper modeling tactics, techniques, and procedures; about aviation history; and about the way that these wonderful airplanes were put together.

It was released in '64 but it was Yak UT-2.

Thanks Don. I'm happy to read your words. I hope that this thread will be useful for those who want to build this model in the future. Plane is really nice and it is worth to have it in collection.
