Here's some work on Gary Pilsworth's VC10 in the RAF scheme. I will have this vectored soon, and I am planning to release some recolours.

I think Gary was looking at a wrecking yard picture for this colour scheme?

In service the Go-faster stripe was much more prominent, and the windows were in it. Nice to see an RAF VC10 with the correct cargo loading doors shown. Believe it or not, both these pictures are of VX107 (RIP old friend). She probably got the subdued livery for the Falklands war.

Dong Woo ... If you recolour it to BA colours, check on the fuselage length, Door, and window spacing The RAF ones were the earlier short body version. (Apart from some retired BA ones that the RAF converted to tankers.)

I'm not certain, but I think the Flight name changed from Transport Command to Support Command around the time that they were converted to refuelers. I'm told that the tanks were installed in the under floor cargo areas and the seating areas remained above them. The seats could of course be removed to provide extra cargo/Casualty areas. I know VX107 was converted and used on Operation Black Buck, landing in Ascension. From there she was later used for Casevac from RAF Stanley. Last I heard she was being dismantled at Bruntingthorpe.

Hee hee, VX107 was deliberately never famous. If anything she was infamous for the covert ops modifications on her.

I came back from Op Granby on a VC-10. Very nice ride and a smooth trip. The RAF crew bent over backwards to make that a good flight and I never got the chance to thank them properly. They even managed to supply a little alcohol once we were out of Saudi airspace. Proper decent folk.
