I suspect mismatched paint is often common in many countries once the item goes into Service in a conflict situation. I have personally seen this and it was almost the rule. Touch ups on faded paintwork, unavailability of paint resulting in a substitute, use of the wrong paint in error, batch variation and incorrect mixes all contribute! To add this, if there was unavailability, any old paint that was better then nothing would be used. It is interesting to note that despite strict paint specs, in the situations I saw they were just not followed.
