PT-17 Stearman Crop Duster

Going slow for the moment but here are some updates on the beta build.
The landing gear is a long paper stick which enters into the fuselage and is glued to the frontal wall support for strength. The engine get a little more detail done to it. The engine is too large but I will use this one temporary until I make another a bit smaller. The engine is constructed from rolled paper stock from the core center to the cylinders to include the cooling fins.

PT-17 Stearman Crop Duster

An update on the Crop Duster. As mentioned earlier, the engine is a bit oversize, almost like a super Wasp. Regardless, the procedure for making it is the same for a smaller version.

Thanks for the comment, I will do a tutorial on the main core later on. While this engine looks good, it is a tad too big

Here are some more updates on the Stearman. So far it is going along nicely and I am looking forward to the rigging later on.

Thanks for your comment. Up to now I have not run into any drastic problems. I have made some changes to the build, like making the front and rear landing struts more sturdy.

The build continues albeit a bit slower than I usually build. There are some issues on the attachment of the lower wings. Because of the full cockpit, I will have to cut the lower wings and a different way to attach them. Here are some more photo updates on the build. The Stearman gets its landing gears attached.

The model is a bit slow going as I experiment with different techniques in the build process. This is one wing build technique That I tried out. The wing ribs were too thick so I reduced them in my plans, This version is one way but the top wing has a different technique which in future builds will be better for strength and stop warping. As mentioned in earlier postings, because of the cockpit, the wing had to be trimmed and cut to fit in the opening.
