Interesting that you attached the external load during partial assembly as apposed to do it at the end. For me it does not work, because those parts get tangled and fall off or damaged during assembly. Isaac

Engines installed
Thank you Gary, Tappi, Isaac and Dan! Well appreciated
![]() @Isaac: I deliberately chose to modularize the build, with each sub-assembly as completed as practically possible before joining everything together. It's a big bird and I wanted to avoid too much handling of the model during the build, as the risk of accidental damage is higher then. I trusted that the fit would allow this, and Halinski didn't prove me wrong.... But looking back on attaching the wings to the fuselage, it required some corrections here and there, and parts 50L/P should be attached to the fuselage and not the wing roots in case you ever build the model yourself. Had to correct this during the build but you learn as you go. This helps to align the pre-installed wing fillets to the fuselage, resulting in a much better and easier fit (no gaps). So, next are mounting of the engines. They came on nicely to the wings, with a neat alignment to the fuselage, both horizontally and vertically. I'm on the homestretch now, and have started with the final details, such as a pitot tube and (I think) static discharger. The latter is a large pin pointing downwards from the left fuselage, aft of the wing. Also, the model has now been completely varnished (matt), basically only the wings and landing gear required an additional thin coat. Fuselage just a few touch-ups with a flat brush. Smelly and unhealthy business, something for outside... Now, only the gun tub hatch and antennas are left. Erik |

Nearly ready for takeoff. Great work Erik.
One can see in that first image, this is a large model. Mike |

Regardless of the order of assembly, there are so many opportunities for handling or mishandling the model during the build. I think keeping a clear table to work on and not rushing it as well as a great designed models are important. For me, I tend to build jets mostly and those are comparatively easier to build ( until you deploy all those doors and speed brakes. And then I like to build some really old models ( that are repainted ) as well, so often there are areas of "oops ". I did it again kind of errors. Secondly, I do not think I will ever build those WW2 bombers with the clear glazing and tens if not a hundred of glass panes.....This JU-88 will tax my patience...... I still have another Antonov AN-4 biplane to build and the clear multi pane windshield and windows scare me, so I put it back in my stash. Isaac
