Kampfflieger Fokker E.V/D.VII "Scharon"
It’s been a long time since I built or posted to the Forum or Facebook page, but with lots of downtime comes the urge to build!
I’m starting on Kampffliegers Fokker E.V/D.VII. I bought the file quite a while ago, (From ecardmodels.com ?), but a few things put me off. Mainly was the 1:48 scale - it did not take scaling up tp 1:32 or 1:24 very well because the file graphics appear to be mostly raster based instead of vector based. I found a website that does some fancy footwork to improve the up-res’ing of files. Think it’s imglarger.com. It helped a lot to get a better upscaled image. I think it’s starting out pretty well. Have had to learn some new things and employ what I’ve learned on the Forum. Will be moving on to other areas of the model today. Biggest problem is I only have one, 1.25 oz. bottle of glue that’s about 1/8 full. More won’t arrive until this coming Wednesday. Well, that’s one way to learn very little glue goes a long way 😄.

Look ma, no seams. Very clean construction. Nice job.

Looks very clean so far - I love the colors, and the 'texture' effect on the lozenge fabric.
Look forward to seeing this one develop. |

Making much progress. Some small things that I won’t show ‘till complete.
Biggest thing is the completion of the parasol wing. I used foam-cor to make the formers. The center and right side pieces fit perfectly, the left hand piece was much too large. Doesn’t make sense as you would think the outline would just be a flip of the right hand piece. I had to cut a long slit in the bottom of it and over-lap the seam. Doesn’t look too bad. These photos were taken before clean-up and final edge coloring.

More Progress
Have made a lot of headway the last two days, yet for the amount of time put in, it doesn’t show.
Added stabilizer and rudder, built cowl, built engine, created a leather” padding ring around cockpit opening, built machine guns and then installed everything. As usual there are still more little edge touch-ups to be made. Tomorrow I will start working on the landing gear and wheels. Maybe the wing struts also.

Fuselage Completed
Finished up the landing gear and did more edge touch-up on the fuselage.
This model is definitely designed to be built at its original 1:48 scale. When scaled up it starts to be more toy-like. But I am very happy with the results so far. Sorry for the lousy photos. Don’t understand why they seem oversharpened. I even brought them into AP to soften them a bit.
