Battle of Midway Project (1)
Butelcynski recently released this thread about the great naval air battle of Midway, in the year that is approaching, it will be 80 years of these events that changed the course of World War II. (Battle Of Midway models project) The first model I chose from among the repaints that Garry, I and other friends did was precisely the Marines' Brewster F2A3 Buffalo parked in Midway that intercepted the Japanese attackers. More details are given in the Midway thread.
The only modification made to the model besides the antenna cables was to give a 3D look to the engine by creating a face for it and the reduction box laminated with several layers of cardboard. I built on Sunday in two work shifts. Important to note that Rafa made the correction beyond the repaint extending the fuselage to A3 version as well as the differences that exist in the canopy and the ventral windows. |

A beautiful rendition of this stubby little fighter.

Looks great Péricles. Maybe it's an underdog thing or something, but in spite of it's poor service showing, I've always had a soft spot for the Brewster Buffalo.

Battle of Midway Project (2)
Well friends!
Still in the wake of our friend Butelcynski's Midway project, we present yet another model, this time the Yokosuka D4Y2, of the two devices actively used in battle on an experimental basis. Repaint done by me on top of the Scissors and Planes model, in the construction preparation photos, the white spatula attached to the bench vise is to form the wing (just look for my build of Brent's D4Y3 repaint many posts ago (January 2020) to understand how it works but I'll show you here again). |

Good luck with this 'Judy' Péricles. Will make an interesting addition to the Midway project.

Great model Pericles. One of interesting thing about Midway battle is that 3 generations of planes took part in it. D4Y2 Judy was the future coming to battlefield as much as B-26 Marauders.

Nice work on the Yokosuka D4Y. As you say, only two of them were present at the battle, both pre-production D4Y1-C reconnaissance versions aboard Soryu. One of the rarer Midway birds. There has been some discussion about these aircraft in the J-Aircraft Forum: Aichi D4Y
Another rare bird at Midway was the biplane Yokosuka B4Y1 (Type 96 Navy Carrier Attack Bomber, Allied Code Name "Jean"), eight of which flew aboard Hōshō, providing anti-submarine and scouting support to Battleship Division 1 of the Main Body of the Japanese fleet.
