Smile Vultee BT-13 FAM

Hello friends!

After a short hiatus, we went back to building a Scissors and Planes model, this time one of the many versions of the Vultee BT-13 that Bruno offers, I chose the Mexican Air Force to be built, during my model club's virtual meetings that are always held Tuesday night.

A very nice model to be built but that presents a chronic difficulty in the wing fillets in its original proposal to assemble, certainly in the next one I will make some modification. The model needs some retouching with painting and overlapping parts in the textures.

Beautiful BT-13. I also had problems with the wing fairings when I built the NJ-1 version, but it was otherwise a very well engineered model.

Thank you my friend.

The wing fillets are really complicated. I assembled the integral part, but in the next BT-13/15 that I will assemble, I intend to separate the part in threee pieces. I believe that tomorrow I will have the BT-13 finished from my three Latin American projects that I had. proposed (taking a break from the biplane mania). Anyway the next models that will be built are my repaints of the P-35.

I am looking forward to the P-35s. I had a Swedish friend who flew them as Swedish J 9s on neutrality patrols during WWII.

Smile Vultee BT-13 FAM Finished

Well friends in today's meeting (still virtual) of the CCCP, my modeling club finished the Vultee BT-13 from FAM.

Along with the T-6 and the Catalina, it is one of the most used aircraft in Latin America. As a basic and advanced trainer I had some limitations. In the FAB, which he used until well after the war, the two BT-13/15 versions had a very large notice on the control panel for students and instructors "In case of a bolt, leave the aircraft". In the FAB, sharp angle dives as well as negative acrobatic maneuvers were prohibited because the Vultee plane was temperamental according to the old pilots. The FAM BT-13 model is numbered #2841 in Bruno's catalog and is a delightful model to build, but it has some reported problems one post ago.

Hello Don! I converted Bruno's model to the P-35A by lengthening the fuselage, at first I'm going to build two USAAC P-35A in the Philippines and a P-35 in Philippines Air Corps colors. I've already repainted the J-9 (which is essentially a P-35A) which will soon be on the build line.
