Great work on modifying the paper parts. Sometimes paper looks goophy when it comes to props, spinners, wheel pants, bombs, torpedoes......

Thanks, Everyone. It's coming along and doing tiny sub assemblies is a good way to go. This is good practice for a more detailed kit I hope to build someday.
I got the tail wheel and tail yoke made...but it took some headscratching. All in all, it's ok. Next, I worked on the rear gun. It looked sort of complicated to me with tiny parts. With a little modifying I got it looking pretty good. I have not rolled the barrel as that looks like an impossibility for me! I think I'll be making it from a syringe or maybe even go get a cool metal barrel/jacket. We'll see: All in a good evening's work. More soon. Cheers, Dan |

Thanks, Mike and Ray...
Tonight I put the fin and rudder together. The rudder took me twice to get it looking nice but here are the parts and done ready for paint. I may do the stabs tomorrow or start on the wings. Not quite sure. I can't wait to put some paint on this ol' girl! Cheers, Dan |

Splendid work, especially the tail wheel and rear gun, although all the other parts reflect your usual skill, care, and attention to detail.

Thanks, Don. That tail wheel yoke was a real interesting job. I have even more appreciation (awe) for folks like Ricardo and Erik folding these tiny cockpit parts and odd shapes. This is really good practice!
I got the blades and spinner painted and weathered. I'm going for well maintained but I figure it would show signs of sea salt and battering. I used some pastels, two hues of yellow (for a splash of color) and painted the blades a really dark green. I then hit them with some sand paper in the direction of what I imagine would be airflow and finished with some silver pencil paint chips. I also added some oil flowing around the spinner parts. Pretty cool. I think I'll work on the tail hook and then finally start the fuselage at the cockpit area. I'm now looking for interior shots to see what needs to be added (if anything) as the glazing is large and open and the cockpit will be very visible. Cheers and have a good week...Dan |

Thanks, folks...and yes...this whole machine will be painted and weathered. It's kind of dumb that I went to the trouble of getting a nice copy of the parts made from Office Max! Live and learn!
Thanks for looking and taking an interest. Dan |
