The machine gun looks amazing.

And I join the Eric's question....how you made the tiny slots in the machine-gun barrel?

Hi Erik and YOAV...

The cooling barrels and gun sites are all thin photo-etch style brass. All I did was take them out of the package, do a little folding and gluing and put them on the end of my paper-made (not P#%!@$k) rear part of the gun and ammo drums. I just don't have the skill yet to roll a gun barrel that thin and make it look nice. I have made thicker gun barrels and made holes in them by cutting paper with a jeweler's screw driver but I couldn't do that with this set. The whole model is going so well, I just wanted to have the coolest jackets available!

So...this is a case of a really nice result that took little to no skill on my part! I look forward to seeing your guns, Erik, as I suspect they will be fantastic and I'll learn a lot.

Thanks for the interest,
Dan

Sorry for the late reply, MrConk...

I just use Aleene's Turbo Tacky Glue from Michael's craft stores (seen it at the local Lowe's too) and simply apply with a shaved/thinned toothpick or wire. Sometimes even a brush. Then I take off the excess with my fingers.

Seems to work!

Some more cockpit work. I made up the seats...they start like this:

And everything else went together AOK. I only added some toe restraint straps on the rudder pedals and cut out holes in the pedals where they should be. The white edging is ok since I'm going to be fully priming and painting this in the near future. Pretty neat if simple pit when you are done!

Then I turned my attention to the skinning that goes around the cockpit. I didn't like the flat nature of the drawn in ribbing and stringers, so I added a little 3-D relief by sticking about 5-6 pieces of masking tape together and cutting it into thin strips. These are then stuck onto the printed detail and after some washing and dry brushing, they will give a little more character to the sidewalls.

Now I need to put on some junction boxes, wiring, some emergency boxes, a throttle quadrant and a few other bits of bling. It will look nice once painted and weathered. The instrument panel itself is just masked off as it looks great "as is"!

More soon and thanks for looking...Dan

Can you share a link to the site from which you ordered the jackets, please?

Nice addition of texturing to the inner walls.

If you place small LED light in there, you can see it better when finished.

Great ideas, all...LED may be in my future!

Gene: I ordered from a place called Sprue Brothers. Super fast service!

Sprue Brothers Models

I then searched for "MG 15" and went to "Master Models" and ordered these:
MASAM32013 1:32 Master Model German aircraft machine gun MG 15 - turned barrels & etched sights (2pcs) #AM32013

Does look pretty neat!

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks -- I misunderstood when you said they were from Poland.

Sprue Brothers is the place to go if you want fast service and fair prices on plastic kits and accessories - fast service is their hallmark.

All...I detailed up the interior a bit. Now it just needs some painting and weathering. It's all based on what I THINK would be in there....but it's basically gizmology that makes things look more complicated. Things that are actually recognizable include a fire extinguisher and first aid kit in the rear as well as throttle and mixture controls, seat adjustments and a wheel on the right side wall with a chain added. I am pretending that is part of the flap/slat adjustment as there is something similar on a Fieseler Storch...so I'm just basing this idea on that plane. On to the pics...

I hope to finish the painting and weathering tomorrow and then add the inner skin, which seems to fit great, and then start adding the outer skins and get this fuselage on the path to looking like something!

Thanks for looking...Dan
