IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version
After two months off from building, I am back.
I decided to continue building Yoav's fine collection of IAF jets in 1/30 scale. This time it is the French designed Dassault Ouragan fighter bomber from the 50's. This is one of those early jets ( Generation 1 + ). Very simple barrel fuselage with a straight wings. I tend to like the early jets and this one as well. The paint scheme is post Six Days War with the green, brown and tan colors. The original Ouragans were serving in natural metal and then were painted with the brown and blue camouflage on top ( pre and during the Six Day War ). So far I am aware of Yoav's original build Md-450 ouragan - building report Md-450 ouragan - finished model as well as Ron's MD 450 OURAGAN building by RON PERSKI However, both are built in the flying configuration and as you know, I like the planes on the ground with the landing gear down. So I will most likely use my previously built Ouragan from the Answer kit. Ouragan.JPGOuragan 2ndp lace.JPG DSCF3390.jpg If anyone seen a build of Yoav's kit with the gear down, let me know. I will add the external load of bombs and rockets later. Thanks Stay tuned. Isaac

Some info
Firstly, Yoav brought to my attention a bit of trivia I did not know. The tri colored Ouragans never sported the shark mouth art on the nose. That was apparently done to the original silver bare metal originals as well as a hand full of the brown and blue coroled ones. The only one having a shark nose with the tri colored camouflage is the gate keeper that Yoav designed and that aircraft is only shown with the gear retracted. So for the purist, if you want a gear down version, we should not have the shark nose art.
however.... I am not a purist, so I will build it as is and add the landing gear and external loads like an operational aircraft....After all it is art. also, I went thru some of my old reference material and found these pics from a 1958 Israel Air Force magazine. Go with the shark
After consultation with Yoav, I looked at the parts with and without the shark mouth on the nose. The one without is the authentic one, but I just could not resist the shark mouth art work. So that is it. I will build it as such.
So here we go: the parts...Printed on my Epson Work Force 630 printer and on 165 gr card at 720 DPI setting. IMG_6658.JPG IMG_6659.JPG I will not over detail the build steps, but will present the work I performed. Yoav has excellent photo montage of the instructions along with the kit. Isaac

Rear fuselage-Exhaust section
I will start from the back and go forward.
Here are the rear sections and the engine exhaust nozzle IMG_6672.JPG Super glue is applied as a light coating to the nozzle section. Insert the assisting disk and then allow it to dry. The disk is not to be glued. It will be removed later. IMG_6673.JPG aft sections assembled IMG_6674.JPGIMG_6675.JPGIMG_6677.JPG and now slip in the exhaust. IMG_6678.JPGIMG_6681.JPG Isaac

Center section
Now adding the center section of the fuselage. I am not sure why the part is made up of two sections that are glued together.
I will modify this a bit when I join the wings to make room for the landing gear bay. As you know, none of Yoav's models has landing gears. The parts IMG_6682.JPG add the former for the aft section IMG_6683.JPG and joined IMG_6684.JPGIMG_6685.JPGIMG_6686.JPG Isaac

Isaac ....
The center section of the fuselage is made up of 2 parts to prevent seam from below. I had nowhere to hide the seam and so I made it at the place of the wings. We talked about it once. take care YOAV |
