Talking Eindekker from Nobi (Thai Paperworks) free on Facebook

Join Pericle's 1/100 Club on Facebook and get a free 1:100 Fokker Eindekker from our friend Nobi. Looks like I now have another kit to add to my build list.

Yeah, I actually deleted my account entirely after like 10 years on it! It's a life improvement, seriously!

Have never u derstood the problem people have with Facebook. Just like here , you make it what you want. Great way to keep in touch with friends very far away in the world, lot’s of great groups (papermodelers sound familiar?).
Don’t need to be everybody’s friend and only supply info you are comfortable with.
Problem people, block them.
I thoughrouly enjoy the Turner Classic Movies grows as well as Auraura Plastic Monster Model groups, Classic Horror Movies group, the Lost In Space Reboot page has had good info, etc. very useful when you use a closed group for private stuff.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression you need to give them your first-born to be on it, just not the case.

Even though it’s against their rules, you could create a fake identity to join and only let your close friends in on it.

Couldn't agree more. I have MANY friends on FB that are modelers. Pericles (gomidefilho) and I chat quite often. He has a 1:100 group that is quite active for its size.

Just set your privacy stuff up good and tight and enjoy.

Plenty of problems with Facebook actually in terms of privacy - check the current news for an example (Cambridge Analytica for example).

Read their small print and see that they own your stuff.

Facebook are hardly ethical in their behavior either. Hackers have been accessing peoples details from just a phone number until recently (easy enough for you or me to do off the cuff) and then using these to defraud, or span, or Phish. Facebook was aware of this but did nothing until they were hit by the adverse press after the Analytica debacle.

Anything ever written there or associated with you on someone else's page can come back to haunt you - even if it has been "deleted" (it hasn't really). This could cost you a job easily as recruiters use FB a lot, and judge you by the company you keep (even if you actually don't!).

And the list goes on...........

Fake identities don't work either unless you start trying to disguise MAC and IP addresses.

-------------------------------------------

But also, as you say, jagolden01 and MichaelS, many people enjoy and use it and are happy with it, and are not worried about the concerns I have mentioned above.

FB IS overwhelmingly popular and it plays a real role fulfilling needs, especially socially - but many others are not willing to expose themselves to identity loss, snooping, or reputational damage, or have their detail/knowledge used without their consent.

There will always be a section of society who don't want to use it and don't need it.....

----------------------------------------------

This all very off-topic though!
