Smile Yet another E-III, Ecardmodel's free download!

This is my third attempt at an E-III, this one is a revisit to www.ecardmodel.com and the great free download they offer. As usual, I printed this on recycled poster board. I had some yellow left, so...bright yellow it is! Practice, practice, practice! I printed it out wrong though, and it came out some what smaller then the 1:33 scale offered.

The cowling I think came out pretty good as did my rigging and wheels. The body is a little bit twisted, my fault, not paying attention. The wings are mis-marked for the rigging, but I figured that out on the first attempt at this model. I may be ready to print off this model in the "best" color setting on good card stock, and do the engine and cowling on silver paper.

That is one of the first models I ever built. I swear I built it 12 times before I was reasonably happy with it. It is a good model to practice on. It requires all the skills needed to build paper models.

This try turned out better then the others, at least the cowling turned out smooth. I will be doing more.

I was flying this one last night:D On Red Baron 3D CD of course I built this one sometime ago and it was one of my first more detailed models. The biggest problem I had was with the wings My fault of course. Yours looks great BTW. I love these old flying machines. Keep up the good work

Nice build. This model would be nice to upscale. I have fat fingers.

I really am getting a kick out of the E-III. Small, fabric covered, wing-warp controls, heavy spinning engine libel to spin your plane on landing and take off, and at any time the thing could fold in flight and send you crashing down, with to parachute! Brave men, those who flew anything back then.

I think any rotary engine plane has a lot of potential for scaling up, just because you can see so much of the engines details! This would be neat in a larger scale. I have seen this engine in 1:11 scale. How big would that make the model? Hmmm.

I could not edit any longer on the first post. It should be www.ecardmodels.com
