Scissors & Planes 1/100 Curtiss SBC-3 Helldiver USS Yorktown

My current project, another Pilsworth, is taking forever. It's going well but I need a little diversion.
Bruno does this SBC-3 and Nobi gives us a -4. Bruno's is currently available on Ecards and gives you no less than 18 different Yorktown based Helldivers to build. And for one measly buck! Plus there's Ranger, Enterprise, Saratoga and Lexington- and each of these has 18 to build as well.

Did this one a while back but only got around to touching up edges. One minor criticism of the kit- the rear fuselage join sees the back end 'sagging' down a bit (compared to drawings) so had to trim the join edge on the back section to get it looking closer to scale.

Hope you like.

VERY nice work. I always liked the looks of the SBC, although to my eye, the close-cowled version looks "prettier" (same with the F3F).

In the 1950s, one of the best plastic models I built was the Aurora SBC-3. Wish I still had it, although it surely would not look as good to me now as it does in my memory.

Thanks guys. Don, I know what you mean about the looks. The Cyclone powered -4 didn't quite match in the visual appeal department.

But having said that, I'd like to see re-paints of Nobi's -4 done in French and British Cleveland colours (hint, hint Kacper).

MY BAD.

The other SBC-4 I referred to is not a Nobi, it's a Der Kampfflieger. I got my genius designers mixed up! Sincerest apologies Roman.

Absolutely beautiful build... There is this little feeling of happiness I get when I see a kit that I have in my collection executed masterfully by a member of this website; it confirms that I indeed own a great kit and that someday I will build it myself. Also it serves as proof that it can be done.

Beautiful little model. 1/100 is becoming very popular here.
