PacificWind,
I'm guessing we use the same rudimentary software to recolor (I use MS Powerpoint), but don't let that stop you from creating new 1:100 parts. My first approach would be to borrow Curtiss P-40 landing gear from Bruno's or DoubtingThomas' uploads here. Failing that, I would dig up high resolution blueprints that I can cut and paste parts, or use as a model to create landing gear from Powerpoint's primitive shape library (see my Cessna 172). Flat 2D parts like wheel wells and struts should be straightforward, the wing housings will be harder. I'm sure you'll do a good job as always! |

I use Inkscape. It's my favorite and in my opinion the best software for this job.

I made some modern (ie not vietnam war or immediate post war era) vietnamese UH-1H a few months ago. Unreleased because untested. Plus, when I just saved as pdf the file got huge (1.5 mb instead of the expected 150 kb or thereabout). I'm wondering what went wrong. The svg file is just 324 kb !
edit: OK, the issue is with the "colors" layer, if I remove it and save as pdf (tabs + markings + model), I get a very reasonable 54 kb file. edit: ah ha! Inkscape doesnt like the original gradients (I already knew it) but it doesn't like either the original patterns filling some parts! Once I replace those patterns on the vents of the engine fairings with grey patches the size of the pdf drops to 64 kb instead of 1.5 Mb.

Nice choice Kacper. Who's design of the UH-1B would you re-paint though?

Not a B model but a "Charlie Model". We were told the only visible diff was the rotorhead. This is Shark Three Zero flown by my "stick buddy" Leslie. He was KIA on Nov 17, 1969 probably in this ship.

See and read this thread:
Nobi I STRONGLY feel that everyone who downloads and CERTAINLY builds one of Pacific Wind's repaints needs to send some money to Nobi. Time and skill are not free people. Time and skill is what it takes to give us all this hobby. I don't know how you can sleep at night if you download and build a pirated kit.

Every one needs to see this thread as well. This is Kacper's grandfather:
Fletcher-class destroyer USS Leutze DD-481
