Armeé d'l'Air Dewoitine D 501 with a curious camouflage that represents the wings of a bird on the wing surface. Pre-war color scheme. 1/100 scale model made on 120 gsm filecoat paper based on the model of Pierre Gaurat's D510 repainted by Brent for me by request.

Nice Job. The splinter camo looks almost German.

Before ww2 all of air forces experimented with camo to some degree. There is a lot of photo evidence of it floating around but unfortunately most of it was destroyed over the years. French experiments are complete blank page to me and this D.501 looks like nice example of it.

Some of Polish experiments likely mimicked this as there are some photos of similar camo on P-11 fighters. B&W photos so colors are a guess work.

Great model Pericles.

Wow! Interesting camo pattern- sort of reminds me of bird's wing shapes.

Nice work again from the Péricles/Brent team!

Thank you my friends!

Karol this does not seem to me to be the case as the literal intention is to paint a feather shape on the wings and stabilizers. The French had several camouflage schemes at the end of the 1930s, unlike the second half of this decade where aluminum and French dark green (called vert ermellite - emerald green) predominated, and in the navy bluish gray and aluminium.
